Welcome to 4th Grade in G-12

Welcome to Wilbur Elementary School and the 4th grade class of G-12. We are in for a very busy and exciting year. We will be working hard  in our  reading series by Harcourt called Storytown. Our first unit focuses on stories in which characters face challenges. Throughout the year we will be getting exposure to fictional as well as non-fictional writings. Speaking of writing we will be sharpening our skills with the 6+1 traits of writing. Expect many written assignments throughout the 2009-2010 school year. Math will kick off with a unit entitled Factors, Multiples, and Arrays. It is all about multiplication. Multiplication will be a skill we return to over and over throughout the 4th grade year. Start sharpening those basic facts now. In science we will kick off the year with a program called Skywatchers in which we will be studying the day and night skies. The focus of social studies, to begin things, will be the early Americans. Get ready to have fun, work hard, and learn a whole bunch. So start resting up, sharpening pencils, dusting off notebooks, and setting the alarm clocks.
